Early Life & Education – Rosario Dawson was born on May 9, 1979, in New York City, to Isabel Celeste and Patrick C. Harris. Her mother is a singer and writer whereas what her biological father does is not available in the public domain. Isabel never married her biological father Patrick C. Harris; she later married construction worker Greg Dawson when Rosario was just one year old. After high school, she attended The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute to pursue acting professionally.

Career – She kicked off her acting career as a child after appearing in an American educational children’s television series “Sesame Street”. In 1995, she starred as Ruby in her feature-film debut “Kids”. It was a controversial film which cause public debate due to its theme. The film was released without a rating but later received an NC-17 rating from the MPAA. She went on to star in Spike Lee’s sports drama He Got Game alongside Denzel Washington and Ray Allen.

Over the years, she appeared in several films including Side Streets, Light It Up, Down to You, King of the Jungle, Sidewalks of New York, and Chelsea Walls which really didn’t help her to achieve fame and recognition. In 2002, Rosario was cast as Will Smith’s love interest Laura Vasquez in the American science fiction comedy “Men In Black II”. The film grossed $441.8 million worldwide and was made against a budget of $140 million. It was Dawson’s first commercial successful film which made her an overnight star. Her next major role was in another Spike Lee drama film 25th Hour which was about a man who has his last 24 hours of freedom before facing a seven-year prison sentence for dealing drugs.
