Nunez was born on April 8, 1978, in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico. She is the daughter of Hector Núñez and Silvia Rivas. At the age of 12, she began acting in theatre, and later on, she pursued a full-time career as an actress and attended acting school CEFAC TV Azteca.
Having completed her graduation, she started working in commercials and daytime television serials. In 2001, she made her television debut as Karen in Como en el cine. In 2004, she starred in a short film titled Miss Carrusel as Claudia.
She then appeared in the 2004 television series Las Juanas, portrayed as Juana Micaela. She played one of the lead roles in the series and it was the first time when her performance was noticed and received accolades from the audience and critics.
