New Line Confirms The Conjuring 4 With Previous Writer Returning

Warner Bros Subsidiary New Line Cinema officially confirms The Conjuring 4 is in development with the acclaimed writer “David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick”, who has previously penned scripts for the studio as well, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Conjuring films are inspired by the real-life cases of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Though, the script would be based on which case for the new installment is not revealed yet. But, more details will be announced very soon by the filmmakers.

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson have played the role of paranormal investigators the Warrens in the previous three installments of The Conjuring. They are in early negotiations to reprise their roles but the official announcement is yet to be made.

David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick joined hands with Warner Studio for the 2009 psychological horror-thriller film titled Orphan, which was his first project as a writer. Later, he wrote scripts for Red Riding Hood and Wrath of the Titans before joining The Conjuring Universe for the studio.

He penned the scripts for The Conjuring 2 and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It in the back. The screenwriter is also known for his work on the DC superhero film Aquaman and its sequel Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, which is scheduled to release on December 25, 2023.

James Wan and Peter Safran will once again serve as producers for The Conjuring 4 under their banners Atomic Monster Productions and The Safran Company. The film will also be produced by New Line Cinema.
