Early Life & Education – Jonah Andre Hauer-King was born on May 30, 1995, in Islington, London, England. His father Jeremy King is a restaurant owner and his mother Debra Hauer is an American psychotherapist and former theatre producer. He has two sisters Margot Hauer-King and Hannah Hauer-King. He studied at Eton College located in Eton, Berkshire, and then went to St John’s College, Cambridge graduating with a first-class degree in Theology and Religious Studies in 2017.
Career – While in college, he started participating in stage performances which made him interested in acting. Almost immediately after graduating, he made his film debut after being selected for the supporting role of Luke Hammond in the 2017 British drama The Last Photograph. The film is about a middle-aged man who was searching for his son’s photograph which was taken shortly before he was killed in the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 on his way to New York City to meet a girl.
That same year, he marked his television debut in Hettie MacDonald’s drama series Howards End based on the novel of the same name. He played Paul Wilcox in just two episodes out of four. Hauer-King then starred in the historical drama Little Women which aired on BBC One. He played Theodore ‘Laurie’ Laurence in a total of three episodes of this series.
Prior to making his film debut, he appeared in several short films including The Maiden, Blue, Holding on for a Good Time, and Regardez. In the 2018 British drama film Postcards from London, he played David. After that, he was cast as Winchester in Old Boys and Andrius Aras in Ashes in the Snow in the same year.
In 2019, He starred as Lucas Ray in the family adventure A Dog’s Way Home, based on Cameron’s 2017 novel of the same name. The film was about a pet dog Bella who finds her owner after travelling for more than 400 miles. He was then cast in François Girard’s drama The Song of Names which premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival and won several awards and nominations. He is also known for her TV series roles in Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar and The Flatshare, and in films The Little Mermaid.
