Halloween (1978)

Everything started on Halloween night in 1963 when a six-year-old boy Michael Myers kills his sister Judith Myers. He was then sent to a mental hospital but manages to escape from the hospital and return back to his hometown in Haddonfield, Illinois. Now, the devil is in town who starts stalking high school students and killing them brutally.

Halloween II (1981)

The sequel titled Halloween II picks the story right where the first film ended. Laurie and Dr. Sam Loomis almost kill Myers but he eventually disappears and even survives after being stabbed and many gunshot wounds. He is now after Laurie Strode. Meanwhile, Loomis learns that Myers has found something about Laurie which is why he wants to kill her.

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers

The plot of Halloween 4 picks up after 10 years of the events of the first two original films. Myers is in a coma for ten years and finally wakes up when being transferred to Smith’s Grove Sanitarium by ambulance. He somehow manages to escape from the ambulance and now again in his hometown with murderous intentions.

In this film, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) didn’t appear because she died in an off-scene car accident before the story takes place in Hollywood 4. But, Dr. Sam Loomis is still pursuing Michael Myers.

Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)

At the end of Halloween 4, Myers is shot multiple times and thrown down a salt mineshaft. He once again survives and this time he goes into another coma for a year where an elder takes care of him throughout the time. When he wakes up on Halloween night, he first kills that man and starts finding Jamie who gets admitted to Haddonfield Children’s clinic after suffering from psychological trauma in the previous events.

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)

Jamie Lloyd and Michael Myers are abducted by a cult for almost six years. Jamie gives birth to a baby while attempting to escape, she is killed by Myers but her baby survives. Myers heads out to find Jamie’s baby who is found by Tommy Doyle, the kid Laurie Strode babysat in Halloween’s first two films.

Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)

Laurie Strode is supposed to be dead but returns out in Halloween H20. She hides her identity and fakes her death in order to avoid Myers. She has been living under another name Keri Tate and working as headmistress. Michael later comes to know that Laurie is alive and had faked her death and now has a son. He once again goes on a mission to hunt Laurie and her son.

Halloween: Resurrection (2002)

Halloween: Resurrection with Michael Myers who is still after Laurie. She has been in Grace Andersen Sanitarium and traps Myers but Michael is like an immortal who is never gonna die. He finally kills Laurie in this installment. After a year, a group of college students visits Myers’s childhood house for an internet reality show Dangertainment where those students have to spend a night at the house, and you guys can assume would happen at the end.

Halloween (2018)

It serves as a sequel to the 1978 original film Halloween, disregarding all the previous installments. Michael Myers is in the asylum for forty years following his killing spree in Haddonfield and eventually escapes. Laurie Strode is still traumatized but prepared to face him on Halloween night with her daughter and granddaughter.

This was the biggest hit in the franchise, directed by David Gordon Green who also directed two sequels of this film Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.

Halloween Kills (2021)

The film picks up right from the previous part left off. Michael Myers burns in the basement of Laurie Strode. She has been rushed to the hospital with her daughter and granddaughter. But, Laurie soon learns Myers didn’t die in her home basement. He has even killed several firefighters and is now on a mission to hunt her and her daughter and granddaughter. But this time, the Haddonfield community is with Laurie.

Halloween Ends (2022)

It is the sequel to the 2021 slasher film Halloween Kills and serves as the thirteenth installment in the franchise. Movie buffs are certainly on cloud nine for the upcoming Halloween movie titled Halloween Ends which is scheduled to hit theatres on October 14, 2022.

It will star Jamie Lee Curtis, James Jude Courtney, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, and Kyle Richards. They are reprising their roles from the previous part of the film.

There are a few Halloween movies having the same title but telling different plots which might be confusing for anyone. You can go for those movies after completing all the Halloween movies as per the timeline.

Halloween (2007), Halloween II (2009), and Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) serve the Halloween title but don’t consider them in the continuity.
