Early Life & Education – Alison Brie was born on December 29, 1982, in Hollywood, California, to Charles Terry Schermerhorn and Joanne Brenner. Her father was a musician and freelance entertainment reporter while her mother worked at Para los Niños (“For the Children”), a non-profit childcare agency. She has an older sister Lauren who works as a financial advisor.

She attended South Pasadena High School in California and graduated in 2001. She became interested in acting in high school and started performing on stages and plays at the Jewish Community Center. After school, Brie went to the California Institute of the Arts and earned a Bachelor’s degree in theatre in 2005. She briefly attended the Royal Schottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.

Career – In 2004, she was shortlisted to appear in a short film titled Stolen Poem just after completing her graduation. The actress continued to perform on stage to learn the nuances of acting.
