Martha Higareda was born on 24 August 1983 in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico to Jose Luis, who is an artist and therapist, and Martha Cervantes, an actress. She grew up with her sister named Miriam Higareda who is also an actress and her brother, José Luis Higareda.
She aspired to become an actor ever since she was a child. When she turned 14, she relocated to Mexico City in pursuit of a career in professional acting. Soon, she started performing in several plays, including Little Women and Don Juan.
In 2000, she finally made her television debut with a Disney show titled Zapping Zone where she appeared as an anchor hostess. Around two years later, she made her feature film debut as Renata in a Mexican romantic-drama film Amar te Duele.
Things were in her favor as she started getting offers from films and television. In 2003, she starred in films such as Casa de los Babys, Mujer dormida, and El sueño de Elías. The same year, she got her breakthrough role as Celeste in the television series Enamórate.
She starred in many films and television series, but some of her best-known roles including as Lilia in Mariachi Gringo (2012), Lucy in No Manches Frida (2016), Mariana in 3 Idiotas (2017), and as Kristin Ortega in the TV series Altered Carbon (2018).
