Taika Waititi was born on August 16, 1975, in Wellington, New Zealand. His father, Taika Waititi was an artist and farmer while his mother, Robin (Cohen), is a teacher. His parents separated when he was five years old and he was raised by his mother only.
Waititi was a student of the prestigious Victoria University where he participated in the comedy troupe and was a part of the five-member ensemble, So You’re a Man. It was performed in the mid-90s both in New Zealand and Australia.
