The film is about a teenage girl “Tessa Young” (Josephine Langford) who falls in love with a mysterious boy “Hardin Scott” (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) during her freshman year of college. Despite negative reviews from critics, the film grossed $69.7 million against the budget of $14 million and was declared a commercial hit.
There were two sequels of the film titled After We Collided and After We Fell released in September 2020 and 2021 respectively. A third sequel, After Ever Happy, has been completed. Another sequel and prequel are in development at the time of writing.

JJ+E follows John John, a low middle-class boy who falls in love with a high-class girl after an incident that changed his life. They raise in the same city and come from different backgrounds – culturally, socially, and economically until the day they enroll in the same high school.
