Early Life & Education – Hari Nef was born on October 21, 1992, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to David Nef and Robin Clebnik. Her father worked as an advertising executive whereas her mother worked in sales. She was two years old when her parents got divorced. She and her mother then moved to Newton. In 2015, she attended Columbia University, graduating with a degree in theatre.
Career – She kicked off her acting journey during her university days when she worked with casting director Jennifer Venditti. During those days, she made her first appearance in Michael M. Bilandic’s comedy Hellaware. It was her minor role but she received appreciation for her performance. Shortly after this, she was discovered by a photographer in March 2014.
The star was then cast in three short films titled She Told Me She Was Dead, Self Aware, and Family Tree from 2014 to 2015. That same year gave her career’s major breakthrough role when she landed the recurring role in the gender-bending television series Transparent where she played the role of Gittel. She received appreciation from critics for her performance and won a nomination for Screen Actors Guild Awards.
In the meantime, she focused on her modelling career and walked for several brands including Adam Selman, Hood By Air, and Eckhaus Latta. Dead Magazine featured her in the summer issue of that same year which established her as a successful model. She has become a fashion icon by then. She then went on to appear in two short films titled Crush and A-Z of Hair. In 2017, she made an episode appearance in the show Love Advent.
Her major role came when she was cast as Bex Warren in Assassination Nation which also had Odessa Young, Suki Waterhouse, and Abra. She landed another recurring role in the psychological thriller TV series You. Hari acted in the comedy film 1Up as Sloane. The film also stars Ruby Rose, Paris Berelc, and Nicholas Coombe. Her most recent appearance was on the HBO drama series The Idol and in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.
