Carla Gugino bagged the leading role in HBO’s political drama The Girls On the Bus. She has played many small and supporting roles throughout her acting career, but this is gonna one of her career’s biggest roles.

Gugino is the newest star to onboard the show after Melissa Benoist, Natasha Behnam, Scott Foley, Christina Elmore, Leslie Fray, and Brandon Scott.

As per Deadline, The Girls on The Bus revolves around a journalist Sadie McCarthy (Melissa Benoist) who is deeply affected by Tim Crouse’s book The Boys on the Bus and decides to do something challenging just like in the book by following the coverage of the presidential campaign for a significant paper.

Carla Gugino will be seen as a veteran journalist named Grace Gordon Green who is a good friend and mentor to Sadie McCarthy who would be played by Melissa Benoist. Moreover, the other cast members Leslie Fray is set to play Nellie Carmichael, Natasha Behnam will be seen as Lola, and Christina Elmore will have a pivotal character named Kimberlyn.

Benoist will play a lead role and also serve as a producer. Rina Mimoun is the showrunner and executive producer of the series along with Julie Pelc and Chozick who are writing and serving executive producers as well. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter also join as executive producers under their production house Berlanti Productions. The series will also produce by Warner Bros. Television.

The series is inspired by a chapter in Chozick’s book Chasing Hillary. The release date is yet to be announced.

Carla Gugino is known for her appearance in Netflix horror The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor and will also be in the lead role in the next series titled The Fall of the House of Usher. All three series are created by Mike Flanagan. Besides, she will next appear in Leopard Skin and Lisa Frankenstein.
