Early Life & Education– Tom Holland was born as Thomas Stanley Holland on June 1, 1996, in London, England, to Dominic and Nicola (née Frost) Holland. His mother is a photographer whereas his father is a comedian and author. He has three younger brothers.
Tom received his primary education from an independent preparatory school named Donhead located in Wimbledon. He discovered his interest in acting right from his school days due to which, he began taking dance classes. After school, he went to the prestigious BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology where he studied acting and dancing.
Career – Having completed his two years of training, he began auditioning for films and TV roles. After eight auditions, he finally landed to play Billy’s best friend named Michael Caffrey in the West End Billy Elliot the Musical. He was appreciated for his performance which led him to play a titular character in the same musical on September 8, 2008. After the show, he came out as a natural theatre artist and won critics appreciation.
In 2011, He voiced in the Japanese animated film Arrietty for the character Shō which marked his debut film as a voice artist as well. He made his feature film debut in 2012 when he was chosen to play Lucas Bennett in the Spanish disaster drama film The Impossible alongside Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor. The critics praised the direction and acting. Tom won many awards for his performance including the National Board of Review Award for Breakthrough Performance and the London Film Critics Circle Award for Young British Performer of the Year.
Following the success of The Impossible, he was cast to play Isaac in the drama film How I Live Now, opposite Saoirse Ronan.
