Early Life – Nazanin was born on May 22, 1980, in Tehran, Iran. She was born when the Iranian Revolution was at its height, and her parents relocated to London, England within a month of her birth, where she grew up and did her schooling. She went to an independent school located in Hampstead and then enrolled at the prestigious University of California, Irvine, where she received a bachelor’s degree, with honours, in Biological Sciences. In 2009, she enrolled in a contemporary drama program at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Career – It was the year 2006 when Nazanin decided to pursue a career in acting. That year, she appeared in a short film titled Kal: Yesterday & Tomorrow. She then played Taylor in the 2007 romance comedy Gameface. Her first appearance on television came in 2007 when she was chosen to play Josie in two episodes of the American sitcom The Game.

She got her television breakthrough role after playing the role of Leyla Mir in the 2007 daytime drama General Hospital and its spin-off series General Hospital: Night Shift. She portrayed the character of an Afghan Refugee Woman in the 2007 American biographical comedy-drama Charlie Wilson’s War which also stars Tom Hanks, Julie Roberts, Philip Seymour, Amy Adams, and Emily Blunt. In 2010, she went on to make episode appearances in The Deep End, 24, and Hawthorne, followed by a film appearance as Elaine in Paul Haggis in the American action thriller The Next Three Days in the same year. She then played the role of Nora, a love interest of Barney Stinson (Patrick Harris) in Carter Bays and Craig Thomas’ How I Met Your Mother in which she appeared in ten episodes and the series helped her to get the audience’s attention.

Boniadi then landed the pivotal role as CIA analyst Fara Sherazi in the American 2013 espionage thriller Homeland. She played antagonist Adnan Salif in season 3 of ABC’s crime thriller Scandal.
