She moved to Los Angeles along with her parents and brother at an early age where she found her passion for acting. While growing up, she decided to pursue a career in acting.
Career – At the age of six, she had already a manager in the entertainment industry. In 2011, she made her acting debut in the American TV show titled I Kid with Brad Garrett starring Brad Garrett. Almost two years later, she marked her film debut in the black comedy Bad Words which was directed by Jason Bateman and written by Andrew Dodge. She played the role of Ling Quan.
She then went on to mark episode appearances in TV shows including The Goldbergs and Tosh.0 where she starred as Debbie and Katie respectively. Her career’s first notable role came in 2015 when she was cast in the recurring role of Marci in the American comedy series Best Friends Whenever. The show featured Landry Bender, Lauren Taylor, Gus Kamp, Ricky Garcia, Benjamin Cole Royer and Matthew Lewis Royer in the main role.
After playing Maric, she made an episode appearance in the series Grace and Frankie and The Kicks. Her career’s major breakthrough role was on Disney Channel’s comedy series Bizaardvark where Hu played the main role of Frankie Wong, the star of Bizaardvark who knows how to play the keyboard and piano. The series also had Olivia Rodrigo in the main role who played Paige Olvera. They are still best friends.
Her other film roles are as Anda in the 2021 science fiction Voyagers and Bethany in the horror film The Boogeyman which is available for streaming on Hulu.
