Early Life & Education – Haley Lu Richardson was born on March 7, 1995, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Valerie and Forrest L. Richardson. Her mother is a graphic designer who helps people in marketing and branding whereas her father is a golf course architect. She went to Montessori School where she got into performing arts. After that, she attended Arcadia High School. Richardson then was seen playing Julina in the 2013 romance drama Escape from Polygamy in which she featured in the lead role alongside Mary McCormack, Sam Hennings, Riki Lindhome, and Kate Fuglei. The movie depicted the story of Julina and Ryder, a couple deeply in love but forbidden by their polygamous community to be together. Their troubles increased when Ryder’s father, Evril, declared that God had chosen him to marry Julina.
Her first prominent role came in 2013 when she had a recurring role as Tess in the mystery-thriller series Ravenswood which served as the first spin-off series of Pretty Little Liars. The series was cancelled by ABC Family due to the low ratings after one season. She then went on to appear in an episode of the comedy-drama “Awkward” in 2014. That same year, she featured in two more films named The Last Survivors and The Young Kieslowski.
Her first noticeable role came in 2016 when she was chosen to play the role of Claire Benoit, Casey’s classmate in the psychological thriller film Split which featured James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy in the main roles. After that, she received widespread appreciation for her role as Casey in Kogonada’s drama film Columbus. She then had roles in films The Chaperone, Operation Finale, Support the Girls, After Yang, and Montana Story.
