Viswanathan was born on 20 June 1995 in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. She is the daughter of Suresh Viswanathan and Anja Raith. She went to Hunter School for the Performing Arts in Newcastle.
She first noticed by audiences when she participated as a female-led sketch and stand-up comedy troupe, Freudian Nip. She made her feature film debut as Jamali in the musical drama Emo the Musical.
