Early Life – Chan was born on November 29, 1982, in Southward, London, to an Engineer father and pharmacist mother. Her maternal grandparents emigrated from China before the outbreak of the Cultural Revolution. They were the first Chinese family who began living in Greenock, Scotland.
Education – Chan studied at Newstead Wood School for Girls, located in Orpington whose alumni include actress Samantha Baines. After high school, she attended Worcester College, Oxford after her parents’ suggestion, where she studied law.
