Early Life & Education – Asa was born on April 1, 1997, in London, to Sam Butterfield and Jacqueline Farr. His mother is a psychologist whereas his father is a copywriter for advertising. He has one brother and two sisters named Morgan, Loxie, and Marlie.
Asa studied at Stoke Newington School & Sixth Form which is located in Stoke Newington, in the London Borough of Hackney. In the meantime, he started taking acting lessons at the prestigious Young Actors Theatre Islington whose alumni include Ella Purnell.
Career – In 2006, he made his first television appearance, portraying a side role of Andrew in the drama TV film titled After Thomas. In 2008, he made another small appearance on the BBC’s crime drama Ashes to Ashes where he was seen portraying the character of Donny in episode 6 of season 1. After this, he was chosen to play Mordred in the fantasy-adventure Merlin.
His breakthrough role came in 2008 when he was chosen to play one of the leading roles as Bruno in the Holocaust drama The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, adapted on John Boyne’s novel of the same name, along with Jack Scanlon who played the role of a Jewish boy named Shmuel.
