Path of Exile 2 How to Make and Save More Currency

Hello Exiles! Whether you’re just starting or a seasoned player in Path of Exile 2, one thing that always matters is currency. The better you are at making and saving currency, the faster you can improve your character and progress in the game. So today, I wanted to share some essential tips and tricks to help you maximize your loot from maps with minimal effort.

Some of these tips may be familiar to you, but I’ll go into detail about how and why they work so effectively. Let’s dive in!

Instilling Maps with Distilled Emotions

The absolute first tip for any map you run is to make sure you’re instilling it with at least Distilled Emotions. This may sound simple, but it’s incredibly powerful. By instilling a map, you increase the number of magic monsters in the area by 60%, and they drop more simulacrum splinters. This may seem like an added difficulty, but it is worth it for the extra loot.

Let’s break it down:

For example, after running 50 breaches a few weeks ago without any major Atlas upgrades, I received 209 simulacrum splinters just from the added difficulty. These splinters are essentially free money—just drops that add up quickly and can be turned into something valuable. Not to mention, the extra magic monsters increase the drop rate for exalted orbs, divines, chaos, and much more!

The best part? Distilled Emotions are incredibly cheap. You can buy them from Alva for just 3 per exalted orb. So, it’s an affordable and highly effective way to boost your map’s drops without much extra effort.

Focus on Map Modifiers: Quantity, Rarity, and Pack Size

When it comes to map modifiers, always keep an eye on those that increase quantity, rarity, and pack size. These are essential for increasing your loot, experience, and overall profitability. Here’s why:

  • Quantity increases the number of items that drop.
  • Rarity boosts the chance of high-tier items, like Exalted Orbs or Divines.
  • Pack Size increases the number of monsters in a pack, meaning more loot per kill.

What I do is keep a separate stash of maps that have high Quantity and Rarity modifiers. These maps are perfect for farming high-traffic zones like Breaches. On the other hand, maps with base rarity and pack size are better for farming Expedition Logbooks, Citadels, or areas that have increased Waystone drop chances.

In addition, aim for at least 100% increased item rarity, which can be easily stacked on your armor. A small bump in rarity—such as 25% on your helmet—makes a massive difference. The drop rates of exalted orbs, divines, and other valuable items are significantly better with increased rarity.

Don’t Trust Public Trade Chat or Offers

If you’ve ever played Path of Exile or any MMO with a public trade system, you know the drill. Public trade chat is full of people trying to lowball or scam you. You may see offers that seem too good to be true, and they usually are. If you’ve ever been offered 160x for a level 79 Logbook, know that it’s worth much more than that.

What I recommend is checking out MMOexp POE 2 trade site and browsing listings for your desired items. For instance, I once found a ring with 130% total resistances, Mana, and Lightning Damage, listed for 3 Divines. After messaging the seller, I managed to buy it for 2 Divines and 100x. A small saving, but these things add up over time!

Don’t Pick Up Trash Items – Use a Loot Filter

One of the quickest ways to save time (and space in your inventory) is by not picking up low-value items. For example, Regal Orbs and other common crafting items can be sold in bulk for a low price. If you find yourself picking up dozens of these, just stop. You’d need to click on 20 Regal Orbs to match the value of one Exalted Orb, so why bother with them?

A loot filter is your best friend when it comes to filtering out the junk. You don’t want to waste time running over to pick up a 400 gold drop while trying to clear maps. Configure your loot filter to show only the most valuable drops—this will save you time and increase your overall efficiency.

Utilizing Quad Stash Tabs

This tip is a bit more advanced and only works if you have excess stash tabs (ideally, quad stash tabs). The idea is simple: you want to keep items in your stash that might not seem valuable immediately but could be worth something over time.

Many high-level players throw all semi-decent items into a stash tab titled “Price 1 Divine,” for example. These items may not sell immediately, but over time, their price could increase as the market fluctuates. This strategy works best if you play a lot and can leave items sitting in your stash for a few days, reducing the impulse to sell everything right away.

While I don’t recommend rushing to buy quad stash tabs specifically to make currency, this is a great passive method to profit from items that other players might overlook.

Optimizing Your Atlas Tree

The Atlas Tree plays a huge role in maximizing your loot from maps. Certain nodes can increase the quantity and rarity of drops significantly. For example, nodes that increase the number of rare or unique monsters will directly boost your loot potential. Additionally, nodes that increase the number of items dropped (like pack size) are key for maximizing map efficiency.

  • An increased quantity of Waystones is another important node. The more Waystones you collect, the more opportunities you’ll have to increase your loot drops from mechanics like Expeditions and Citadels.
  • Look for nodes that boost explicit modifiers on your Waystones. These nodes will help you increase the effectiveness of your Waystones, giving you more rare drops and better chances of finding valuable items.

When optimizing your tree, don’t forget to prioritize rare monster modifiers and additional breach chances. For instance, increasing the number of breaches and their splinter drop rates will net you tons of extra loot.

Precursor Tablets and the Power of Setup

Finally, let’s talk about Precursor Tablets. These items can provide significant boosts to your map runs when used correctly. By stacking the right Precursor Tablets—those that boost item quantity or Waystone drops—you can increase your loot chances drastically.

Setting up your Atlas tree with the right Precursor Tablet modifiers requires some effort, but the payoff is well worth it. You’ll get higher quantities of Expedition Logbooks, Breach Splinters, and other valuable items. It’s a bit of work upfront, but it pays off with much higher returns on your mapping.

Final Thoughts

If you follow these tips—whether you focus on just one or implement all of them—you’ll see a significant boost in your currency while mapping in Path of Exile 2. Remember that the key to success is not just grinding harder but working smarter.

Lastly, always remember that Path of Exile 2 is meant to be fun. Path of Exile 2 Currency farming doesn’t have to feel like a second job. Set up these simple strategies and let the game work for you. Take a step back when you need to, and never let the grind get too stressful.

Take care, Exiles, and may your maps always drop what you need!
