Early Life & Education – Shelley Catherine Hennig was born on January 2, 1987, in Metairie, Louisiana, United States. She is the daughter of Cathy Distefano Gosset and Glenn H. Hennig, Sr. She grew up with her two older brothers. One of her elder brothers was killed in a drunk-driven incident.

She attended Destrehan High School where she became interested in dancing which led her to participate in several competitions. Hennig won a beauty contest and then got a one-year modeling contract with Trump Modeling Management. Additionally, she received a scholarship to study at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.

Career – At the age of 17, she marked her debut appearance after landing a guest role as Crane Maid in the American TV series Passions. In 2007, she got a regular role in the Peacock’s soap opera Days of Our Lives. She appeared as Stephanie Johnson in 470 episodes. This role gave her widespread recognition. Her next role was in Andrew Miller’s supernatural fantasy teen drama The Secret Circle. She played the role of Diana Meade alongside Britt Robertson, Thomas Dekker, Phoebe Tonkin, and Louis Hunter. The series was canceled after season one because of the poor ratings.

She then starred as Isabelle in Friend Me, an unaired TV series based on the real-life deal-of-the-day website coupon service company Groupon, and Jackie Nevada in the crime drama Justified. Her next appearance was in the MTV series Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous where she featured as Christy Ackerman. The series was canceled after season one.

Hennig was cast to play the role of Malia Tate in the third season of the MTV series Teen Wolf. Later, she was promoted to play the main role in the following season of the series. For her performance in the series, she won Choice Summer TV Star: Female at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards.

After making a couple of TV appearances, she moved towards film work as well and made her debut in the Blumhouse horror film Ouija where she was cast as Debbie Galardi along with Olivia Cooke, Ana Coto, and Daren Kagasoff. Following that, she appeared in another Blumhouse film Unfriended as Blaire Lily. The film featured her in the main role alongside Moses Storm, Renee Olstead, Will Peltz, Jacob Wysocki, and Courtney Halverson.

Hennig then was seen playing supporting roles in the films About Scout, Summer of 8, Roman J. Israel, Esq, When We First Met, The After Party, Gatlopp, and Teen Wolf: The Movie. Her television role includes Friends with Better Lives, Dollface, Mythic Quest, The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window, and Obliterated.
