Who is Sandra Bullock? – Sandra Annette Bullock is a famous American actress and producer. She is the recipient of many prestigious awards including an Oscar, Golden Globe, and several others. Early Life & Education – She was born on July 26, 1964, in Arlington, Virginia. Her father John Wilson Bullock was an Army employee and part-time voice coach from Birmingham, Alabama whereas her mother Helga Mathilde (née Meyer) was an opera singer and voice teacher from Germany. She has a younger sister Gesine Bullock-Prado who served as the vice president of Bullock’s production company Fortis Films but left the industry in 2004.

Sandra studied at Waldorf education in Germany. Later, she attended Washington-Lee High School where she develop an interest in acting and began performing in school productions. She then went to East Carolina University located in Greenville, North Carolina where she earned a BFA in drama in 1986.

Career – In 1987, she forayed into the world of entertainment having played a small role as Lisa Edwards in the action thriller Hangmen. Almost two years later, she was offered to portray Kate Mason in the made-for-television film Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman. That same year, she appeared as Debby Cosgrove and Devlin Moran in two Direct-to-video films A Fool and His Money and Who Shot Patakango? respectively.

Sandra played small roles in several films like Love Potion No. 9 (1992), The Thing Called Love (1993), Demolition Man (1993), and Wrestling Ernest Hemingway (1993). Her breakthrough role came in 1994 when she was chosen to play the role of a passenger-turned-driver named Annie Porter in Speed opposite Keanu Reeves. The film received a positive response from the critics and grossed $350 million worldwide.

After the success of Speed, she starred in the leading role of Lucy Eleanor Moderatz in the romantic comedy film While You Were Sleeping. Her impeccable acting skill was praised by the critics which even helped her to earn a Gloden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.

She gained international fame for portraying Jean Cabot in Paul Haggis’s Crash alongside Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon, Jennifer Esposito, and Brenda Fraser. The film won the Academy Award for Best Picture. Her performance was again appreciated by the critics and some critics even suggested that it was her career’s best performance to that point.

She is also known for films such as Miss Congeniality (2000), Two Weeks Notice (2002), Premonition (2007), The Proposal (2009), The Blind Side (2009), The Heat (2013), Gravity (2013), Ocean’s 8 (2018), and Bird Box (2018).
