Zea was born on March 17, 1975, in Houston, Texas, United States. She is the daughter of Jennifer and Danny Lee Zea, and both of her parents had no connection in the entertainment industry. Her parents were chiropractors.
Her parents divorced when she was quite young and her parents married people from the UK so she had to spend some in the United Kingdom as well.
She was a teenager when she discovered her passion for acting. She has completed her academic education in Monahans, Texas. In 1995, she completed her graduated from the prestigious American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York.
