Early Life & Education – Laura was born on August 20, 1982, in Belfast, Northern Ireland to Irish parents. She has three sisters and two brothers. Her primary education has been completed from Rathmore Grammar School situated in Belfast. After graduating, she went to the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and graduated in 2004.
Career – A year later completing her graduation, she made her TV debut with a comedy-drama series Sugar Rush where she played the role of Beth. In the same year, she starred in two more TV series, including Casualty and Hex where she starred as Fleur Butler and Maya Robertson respectively.
She then went on to make episodes appearances in the following Television series The Bill and Rough Diamond. In 2008, she made her theatrical film debut in the horror film Insatiable where she was in one of the leading roles Rachel.
However, she came into the limelight when she starred as Caitlin Carney in the 2017 play titled The Ferryman which was premiered at the Royal Court Theatre. For her beautiful performance, she won Olivier Award for Best Actress. Her other stages credits include The River, The Wasp, and Philadelphia, Here I Come!.
She is best known for portraying Janet “Jenny” Fraser Murray in the historical drama Outlander and Amalia True in The Nevers. She also has some projects under her belt on which she is currently working.
