Early Life – Kelly was born on January 17, 1989, in San Diego, California, to Vietnamese parents. Her parents were refugees from Vietnam who fled the country following the Vietnam War. Her father did a job at Burger King whereas her mother worked as a funeral home to support their family after relocating to America.
Education – The actress went to Westview High School in San Diego where she developed an interest in acting. Meanwhile, she also worked at a yogurt shop to support her parents and to pay for headshots, which is a modern portrait in which the focus is on the person. She then attended the prestigious UCLA where graduated with a degree in B.A. communications.
Career – Her professional acting career kicked off in 2012 when she was chosen to play the main lead role as Christine Chan in the American found footage horror film “The Cohasset Snuff Film”. Almost two years later, she joined hand with Los Angeles-based internet comedy company called CollegeHumor and appeared in many of their’s videos.
After this, she starred in a web series titled Ladies Like Us where she portrayed the role of Kelly / Larry. The show ran from July 11, 2013, to April 22, 2015. Moreover, she went to work as an assistant for a creative recruiting firm in Century City.
Between 2014 to 2016, she went on to make episode appearances in the following TV shows About a Boy (2014), Comedy Bang! Bang! (2015), Adam Ruins Everything (2015), and Sing It! (2016). Kelly finally rose to fame after playing the role of Rose Tico in the epic space opera Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
