Jessie Buckley always wanted to do something for her life since the beginning of her career. She started acting and singing when she was a child and struggled a lot to get a good opportunity. She was born the eldest of five children to Marina Cassidy. She has a brother and three sisters. Her mother encouraged and trained her to sing. She was sent to Ursuline Secondary School, a girl convent school, where her mother used to work as a vocal teacher. She appeared in numerous school productions, where she played male lead roles, including Tony in the musical West Side Story and Freddie Trumper in Chess.
Having completed her training with the Royal Irish Academy of Music, she achieved Grade eight in piano, clarinet, and harp. She then became a member of the Tipperary Millennium Orchestra. She then played Anne Egerman in Stephen Sondheim’s musical A Little Night Music. It was her debut West End show which shut down on July 25, 2009. Since then, she starred in numerous concerts, including the Christmas concerts alongside Maria Friedman, Cantabile-the London Quartet, and Tim Rice.
In 2014, She made her television debut with the British drama series Endeavour where she played Kitty Batten. She made her film debut with the 2017’s psychological thriller Beast where she starred as Moll Huntford.
