Mattsson was born on March 30, 1984, in Stockholm, Sweden. She was quite young when she discovered her interest in acting. She was educated at Södra Latin upper secondary school in Södermalm, where she used to perform in plays, musicals, and concerts.
Gradually, she became more passionate about acting and started researching how could she pursue her career in acting. She moved to London and New York in order to pursue a career in acting just after completing her graduation.
In 2004, She finally got her first professional acting gig for a television series, titled Sweden, Ohio, where she starred in supporting role Lena. The same year, she also marked her film debut with a horror film Drowning Ghost where she was cast as Helena.
