Early Life & Education – Halle Bailey was born on March 27, 2000, in Atlanta, Georgia to Doug Bailey and Courtney Bailey. Her father was a stockbroker but quit his job to become their manager and her mother was an HR Recruiter. She has an older sister Chloe Bailey and a younger brother Branson Bailey. Halle was homeschooled, graduating in June 2018.
Career – Halle and her sister started a YouTube channel titled Chloe x Halle in March 2006, where they were uploading covers of Beyoncé, Rihanna, and John Legend. Upon launching their YouTube channel, they did a cover of Beyoncé’s “Best Thing I Never Had” which reached millions of viewers.
After that, they did the cover for Beyoncé’s other track Pretty Hurts which went viral and caught the attention of Beyoncé who also shared the cover on her Facebook page. The Bailey sisters became overnight stars which resulted in to get a million-dollar contract with Parkwood Entertainment, a record label company owned by Beyoncé.
Chloe x Halle released their first EP titled Sugar Symphony under Parkwood Entertainment on April 29, 2016. It was their debut album after being signed by Beyoncé. They later their critically acclaimed mixtape The Two of Us which was featured as Best R&B Albums of 2017 by Rolling Stone magazine.
Nearly a year after, the duo released their debut studio album The Kids Are Alright under Parkwood Entertainment which bagged them their first two Grammy Award nominations for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best New Artist for the 61st Grammy Awards.
Apart from her singing career, She made her acting debut in 2006 after playing the role of Tina in the American comedy-drama Last Holiday. The very next year, she commenced her television career as well, after starring in an episode of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne. In 2018, Halle landed the main role in the 2018 American sitcom Grown-ish in which she played the role of Skylar “Sky” Forster.
