When Is Poor Things Release Date?

The film’s development started more than a decade ago when Yorgos Lanthimos visited the author Alasdair Gray in his Scotland Home to acquire the rights to the novel. Following the development period, the director revisited the project while filming for the period black comedy The Favourite, which starred Emma Stone and approached her for the leading role in the film.

In 2021, Poor Things was officially announced for the first time and its filming began in Hungary, at Budapest’s Origo Studio later that same year.

Poor Things was originally set to release on September 8, 2023, but got delayed for three months due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA Strike. It is now scheduled to hit theatres on December 8, 2023. After that, the movie will premiere in the United Kingdom and Ireland on January 12, 2024.

Who Stars in Poor Things?

Poor Things has an impressive ensemble cast including Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, and Willem Dafoe. They will take on the leading role in the film. Besides, Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, Christopher Abbott, Margaret Qualley, and Kathryn Hunter will be seen portraying supporting roles.

What Is the Plot of Poor Things?

“Poor Things” is about Bella Baxter, a woman who is brought back to life by a scientist and her guardian Duncan Wedderburn, using a child’s brain. Bella, who is quite innocent, has to grow up all over again. Things get complicated when she runs away with a not-so-good lawyer Duncan Wedderburn.

Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents.
