Cynthia was born on 8 January 1987 in Stockwell, London, England. She barely speaks about her family, so we are not able to update her family details. She completed her primary education at the La Retraite Roman Catholic Girls’ School, but later she found her interest in music so she went to the prestigious University of East London where she earned a degree in Music Psychology.
Besides Music Psychology, she studied acting and started taking training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art during her college days.
As soon she completed her acting course, she started theaters. She appeared in several theatres, including The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Sister Act, Lifts and a few others. She rose to fame when she starred as Celie Harris Johnson in the Menier Chocolate Factory production of The Color Purple, for which she won Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical.
Erivo’s career started flourishing and now she focused more on films and TVs. In 2015, she appeared in the E4’s television sitcom Chewing Gum, portrayed Magdalene. The next year, she starred as Alberta Hunter in Mr Selfridge and Mel in ‘The Tunnel“.
In 2018, she made her film feature debut as Belle with the heist “Widows“, followed by as Darlene Sweet in thriller film Bad Times at the El Royale.
