Early Life & Education – She was born on January 12, 1985, in London, United Kingdom, to a Ghanaian mother and an American father. She and her family relocated to the United States when she was 4 years old. She was a kid when her parents separated and Addai-Robinson was raised by her mother in a suburb of Washington, D.C. She attended Montgomery Blair High School where she got involved in acting after performing in several school plays.
She then decided to pursue acting professionally and moved to New York where she went to the Tisch School of the Arts and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater. Meanwhile, she also enrolled in an acting program at the prestigious “Lee Strasberg Theater Institute”.
Career – After taking several acting classes at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, she started auditioning to get roles in film or TV. In 2002, her acting career finally kicked off when she was cast as Susan in an episode of the American drama The Education of Max Bickford. However, it was her guest appearance on the show which still was noticed by many other filmmakers. She next starred in Dick Wolf’s crime drama Law & Order: Trial by Jury. That was an episode appearance too and she played “Lillian Beaudriville” in the series.
Early in her career, she marked several small guest roles in series like Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Justice, CSI: Miami, Dirt, Entourage, Life, Numb3rs, and CSI: NY. After making a couple of television series, she moved toward the big screen work and made her film debut in the 2009 drama Mississippi Damned. Written and directed by Tina Mabry, it was based on Tina’s life growing up in Tupelo, Mississippi.
In 2009, her career’s big role came when she played the role of Debbie in six episodes of the science fiction drama series “FlashForward”. The series received several appreciations but got canceled after the first season. The next year, she had a guest role in the crime drama NCIS: Los Angeles.
In the 2011 French crime thriller film Colombiana, Addai-Robinson played Alicia. The film didn’t receive good responses from the audience but Zoe Saldana’s performance as Cataleya Restrepo was praised by the critics. Her major breakthrough role came in 2012 when she played the role of Naevia in the historical drama Spartacus: Vengeance and reprised her role in Spartacus: War of the Damned. Her performance was appreciated by critics and audiences.
She is known for appearing in the series The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, Texas Rising, ‘Power, Chicago Med, Shooter, and in the films Star Trek Into Darkness and The Accountant.
