Early Life & Education – Andy was born on 13 January 1989, in Bamenda, Northwest Region, Cameroon, to Sue and Andrew Allo. She grew up along with her four siblings in the United States. She took admission in seventh grade at Arden Middle School located in Sacramento. She then went to El Camino Fundamental High School and graduated in 2006. After high school, she enrolled at the prestigious American River College where she formed her own band named Allo and the Traffic Jam.
Career – In 2008, she performed solo on an open mic night at the Fox & Goose Public House in downtown Sacramento. The very next year, her debut independent album titled UnFresh was released which had 12 original songs. The first song from the album called Dreamland featured American rapper Blu.
In 2011, she joined American famous musician Prince’s band, the New Power Generation as a singer and guitarist, and even collaborated with him on three songs titled Superconductor, The Calm, and Long Gone, which appeared on her other album named Superconductor. It was released on November 20, 2012, and ranked #1 on Amazon.com’s Soul and R&B Chart in France, the UK, and the US.
In 2014, Prince released his album named Art Official Page, in which she collaborated with him on three songs, including “Breakdown” where she sang background vocals, and in What It Feels Like” and “Time”, she sang co-lead vocals. In the next year, she again appeared in Prince’s album Hit n Run Phase Two.
Her acting career commenced in 2017 after appearing in the American musical comedy film Pitch Perfect 3. She played the role of a member of Evermoist as Serenity. The next year, she marked her TV debut as well by playing the role of Zoe B. in an episode “The Book of Consequences: Chapter Two: Black Jesus Blues” of Salim Akil’s Black Lightning. In 2019, she landed a recurring role as Lieutenant Wendy Seager in the drama “Chicago Fire”.
Her other film role appearance was in the 2020 comedy film 2 Minutes of Frame. She then was chosen to play the main role of Nora Antony in the Amazon Prime Video’s comedy-drama Upload alongside Robbie Amell, Allegra Edwards, Zainab Johnson, and others.
