Who is Jemima Kirke? – Jemima Kirke is an English-born American actress, director, and writer. She has been actively working in the industry for over a decade and has made many small-screen and big-screen appearances throughout her acting career. Besides appearing in films and TV shows, she has featured in several music videos and also directed a few of them. Early Life & Education – Kirke was born on 26 April 1985 in London, England, to Lorraine (née Dellal) and Simon Kirke. Her father, Simon Kirke, was a drummer with the British rock bands named Free (“All Right Now”) (1968-73) and Bad Company (“Can’t Get Enough”) (1973- ) while her mother Lorraine is the owner of Geminola which is a vintage boutique located in New York City, and they supplied costumes and outfits for the comedy television series S#x and the City (1998).

She went to Harrodian School situated in Barnes, South West London till the age of 11. Her family then relocated to New York City, USA, where she attended Little Red School House in Manhattan. She completed her high school education at St Ann’s located in Brooklyn Heights. Jemima went to Rhode Island School of Design in order to study Arts where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2008.

Career – Jemima’s acting career began after appearing in the supporting role of Charlotte in the 2010 American comedy-drama Tiny Furniture alongside Lena Dunham and Laurie Simmons. In 2012, her breakthrough role came when she was cast in the main role of Jessa Johansson on HBO’s Girls. Her performance achieved fame and recognition in the series.

In 2015, she starred in the film Ava’s Possessions and two TV series titled Axe Cop and The Simpsons. She then landed another supporting appearance as Marta in the American medieval black comedy film The Little Hours which was directed and written by Jeff Baena. It was premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and received positive responses from critics with the star cast performances.

In the 2018 comedy-drama film Wild Honey Pie, Jemima Kirke played Gillian opposite Sarah Solemani, Brett Goldstein, and Richard Elis. In the same year, she appeared as Andrea and Odessa in Untogether and All These Small Moments respectively. She also landed in the mini TV series titled Manic that same year.

Jemima Kirke played Hope Haddon, the headmistress of Moordale Secondary School, in the third season of Netflix Sex Education.
